Description
The flanks of N. neumayri are slightly arched and slope gradually towards the flat navel. An umbilical edge is not present. The external side is narrowly rounded. Characteristic is the ribbing, which is weak and irregular. The ribs are slightly s-shaped and most pronounced near the navel. The lobe line is strongly simplified and the nodule stage is absent, typical for the genus Neophyllites.

Compare
N. neumayri is so far only known alpine. According to BLOOS (2004), who discusses the species in detail, the NW European species N. antecedens and N. biptychus are closely related and very similar. N. neumayri differs from N. imitans by the wider umbilicus, the s-shaped ribbing and the missing umbilical edge. N. neumayri occurs in the Calliphyllum Bed together with Psiloceras calliphyllum because of the strong condensation. It is probably somewhat younger (VON HILLEBRANDT & KMENT 2015).
