Description
Lange introduced another subgenus of Psiloceras in 1951: Waehneroceras.
The forms have S- to sickle-shaped ribs, which run in an arc towards the front usually not attenuated over the outer side. The cross-section of the windings is oval.
After the strong nodule stage, simple ribs begin, reminiscent of Waehneroceras. They are wide and straight. They reach their greatest height on the middle of the flank and weaken strongly towards the outer side. Only with increasing development do the ribs become higher and sharper and show an S-shaped course. They can then still be followed externally.
In the case of young end forms, the cross-section of the windings is circular. Later it becomes increasingly oval.

Compare
Waehneroceras waehneri reminds young very much of Caloceras. The lobe line is also very simply built. Different in adult specimens, however, is the s-shaped rib pattern.
Characteristic is the very large navel width, which cannot be measured in Storthoceras, for example.
