Description
The body is evolute and has an almost rectangular winding cross-section: the flanks and the external side are flattened and the umbilical slope steep, the windings are quite thick overall. The ribs start as retroradiate stripes on the umbilical wall, run radially, sometimes slightly proradiate over the flanks and turn forward there. As in all Schlotheimiids, one furrow remains free externally.
The ribs are particularly strong and do not spatulate with a larger diameter.
Description according to Wäehner (1884), supplemented
Compare
Very similarly simple and clearly ribbed is Schlotheimia montana, which, however, has a much smaller winding width and much more numerous ribs. Small specimens of S. exechoptycha are easily distinguished by the s-shaped retroradiate ribs.
