Description
This large-growing species is simple and radially ribbed; the ribs show no external protrusion. The nodule stage typical of Psiloceras is present.
The cross-section of the coils is rounded rectangular, the coils are very thick. Ps. trochoeides occurs at the transition planorbis/megastoma zone, i.e. at the base of the mid-hettangium.

Compare
Characteristic for this type is the winding cross-section and the simple ribbing.
Psiloceras costosum has an oval coil cross-section, Psiloceras naumanni a much smaller coil width.
