Description
The shells are small to medium sized and involute. The WQ shows a very closely rounded umbilical drop (umbilical edge), flattened, converging flanks and a closely rounded external side.
The largest coil width is near the navel.
The shell is smooth, s-shaped accretion stripes can be observed on the shell.
The lobe line shows trifoliate saddle ends. N. psilomorphus is very rare. The stratigraphic level cannot be determined exactly.

Compare
Identical except for the lobe line is N. glaberrimus. Both can be easily distinguished from other phyllocerates in the level by the navel width.
