Description
The species is very wide forked, the ribs are wide, straight and relatively narrow.
Lange (1941) distinguishes several subspecies. Since the species is very rare in the Alps, it cannot be determined more closely.

Caloceras avus has curved and more numerous ribs. Caloceras jiohnstoni and Caloceras posttorus have much broader, bulging ribs.
