Rarely, specimens of the species, which is widespread in NW Europe, can also be found alpine:
The cross-section of the windings is round to transverse oval, the outer side is slightly sharpened.
The ribs run in a forward open curve over the rounded flanks and end on the outer side or meet there, only very faintly recognisable as accretion stripes.
The ribs become straighter with age and stand irregularly.
* Description according to Schlegelmilch (1992), supplemented
Compare
Compared to Alsatites proaries, the ribs are less clearly curved.
Characteristic for Als. liasicus is the irregular age sculpture.
Representatives of Alpinoceras have a more pronounced keel.
