Description
The wide-billed species has an oval WQ, slightly convex flanks and a sharpened external side with a rounded keel. The keel formation starts very early, it is clearly separated from the flanks by shallow furrows.
The ribs start retroradiate at the suture, run in an open forward curve over the flanks, but always stand retroradiate.
Only near the external side, where they go out, do they bend strongly forward.

Compare
Somewhat similar in small enclosures is Alsatites proaries, which is, however, much more wide-necked overall.
A. cycloides, which also has sharpened coils, has a wider navel and straighter, less numerous ribs.
The specimen of Alsatites doetzkirchneri shown here has much weaker ribs and mediates between Alsatites proaries and Neumayr's original. Somewhat more similar than Neumayr's specimen is the one illustrated by Wähner.
Alsatites Doetzkirchneri occurs particularly rarely, which makes species diagnosis especially difficult. Statements about a possible variability of the species are not possible. We recommend self-study of the works of Neumayr and Wähner.
